Mission Statement

The mission of the South Carolina Society of Medical Assistants is to enable medical assisting professionals to enhance and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and professionalism required by employers and patients; protect medical assistants’ right to practice; and promote effective, efficient health care delivery through optimal use of multi-skilled Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs).

Student Section

All students currently enrolled in a SC CAAHEP Accredited Program may apply for the SCSMA Scholarship.  If you are interested in applying, please click the link and print off the instructions and application form.  The scholarship recipient will be announced at the SCSMA State Conference.

These $250.00 scholarships were established in honor of the Certified Medical Assistants of South Carolina: to assist medical assisting students needing financial support to acquire skills and become eligible to take the AAMA certification exam to fulfill their dream of becoming a Certified Medical Assistant.

 

Eligibility: Must be enrolled in a CAAHEP and ABHES accredited Medical Assisting programs in South Carolina.  Must be enrolled in medical assisting professional courses in a full-time status or nearing completion of graduation requirements. Must be a student member of the AAMA. Must have a minimum medical assisting curriculum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Application: Submit a SCSMA Scholarship application with 2 letters of recommendation from individuals other than family members. A faculty member or administrator from the applicant school must submit one of the required letters. Submit completed application by deadline.
