Happy New Year Everyone!! I hope all of you have had a great New Year so far. The Spartanburg Chapter has started off the New Year with the Chapter’s Annual January Business Meeting in which we elected our new officers for the year 2010-2011, delegates and alternate delegate to the SCSMA House of Delegates meeting in March and our board member and alternate board member. They are as follows:

I want to personally thank the medical assistant students from Spartanburg Community College who have been attending our meetings. We really enjoy having all of you attending the monthly meetings and taking a part, and we look forward to having you join and become a part of our chapter for many years!!

In February we will be having a speaker from Bailey Israel’s office on HIV and in March we will have a speaker from South Carolina Solutions speaking about Medicaid. In April we will have our installation of officers so we will not have a speaker this month. We are hoping to have installation at Fatz Cafe on Southport Road, we will send out a message to everyone on the e-mail list when reservations are finalized. This will be held on April 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Remember the SCSMA Annual Conference will be held March 18-21 in Charleston, SC hosted by the Charleston Chapter. Please make your plans to be there. It is going to be a lot of fun!! We want to cheer for our students who will be participating in the Bowl of Knowledge and also support the Spartanburg Chapter members who are running for office and those who we already know will be installed as State Officers during the conference.

They are as follows:

Patty Licurs, CMA (AAMA), SCSMA State President 2010-2011

Debbie Babb, CMA (AAMA), Speaker of the House 2010-2011

Those running for office are:

We also want to support Stephanie Dotson, CMA (AAMA) and Debbie Babb, CMA (AAMA) as they are in charge of the House of Delegates this year as Speaker of the HOD and Vice Speaker of the HOD, respectively. We know you will do us proud and do a great job!! As you see we have a great membership who are willing to get out there and work on behalf of their chapter and state society. We are so proud of all of you!!!
