Spartanburg Chapter of the South Carolina Society of Medical Assistants
President's Message
The Spartanburg Chapter of Medical Assistants is off to a great start for the 2010-2011 year. Our May meeting was well attended by
members and we were delighted to have the Virginia College class of Medical Students in attendance as well. Thank you to Education
Chair, Doris Becknell, CMA (AAMA) for arranging an excellent speaker, Deborah Anderson, who brought a terrific program
on basic leadership and management. We are looking forward to many great educational sessions during the year and thank you to those who provided Doris with leads for possible programs! If you have any suggestions for programs please feel free to email Doris at doris.becknell@urologycenter.net with your suggestions.
Our members expressed an interest in attending the pinning ceremony for the Spartanburg Community College graduating class which is coming up in July. We are also planning to hold a Bowl of Knowledge in August this year to give them a refresher prior to taking the AAMA exam. Please make plans to attend these events! On the state level we look forward to the August Workshop/Board meeting to be held on Saturday August 21, 2010 at the Midlands Technical College. The workshops are an inexpensive way to get additional CEU’s. Pat Kilcoyne, CMA (AAMA), State Education Chair is busy planning this for us so make every effort to attend and be active on the State level. Even if you are not a board member, you are welcomed to observe the board meetings and learn what is taking place on the
state level of the organization. Who knows maybe you are a future leader for our society! Thank you to all who have agreed to serve as committee chairs for this year. Let’s make this a great year and one in which we all find that hidden treasure within us!
