Meeting Place: Midlands Technical College – Airport Campus – Health Sciences Building - Conference Room 221.

The Columbia Chapter will not meet in June or July. Our meeting schedule for the rest of 2010 is as follows:

August 17th: ICD-10 Snapshot

October 19th: ICD9 Coding Changes for 2011

November 16th: Election of Officers, Delegates and Board Member & Planning Session for 2011

The Columbia Chapter meeting in May was attended by our normal group, with three welcome additions. I would personally like to thank Joan and Brandi (and her baby) for joining us. We always enjoy seeing new faces!

MTC Medical Assisting Program has New Digs!

The Medical Assisting Program at MTC has a new classroom with a much larger and nicer area to work in. I spoke with Dorothy Bouldrick, CMA (AAMA) Program Director, who is very enthusiastic about the new classroom. Congratulations on your “new home”, Dorothy!

The SCSMA August Workshop and Board of Directors Meeting will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010. There will be 4-6 hours of education offered. CPR will be one of the offered classes. The information and registration now available on the website.

The August meeting education will feature a snapshot of what to expect from ICD-10 which is expected to be a mandatory change in 2013. This is a major change in billing and coding. Margie Banta, CMA (AAMA) CPC will present this important information. There will be 2 CEU credits available for all AAMA members in attendance.
